Seeing as how things are changing at lightning speed with this pregnancy, I wanted to do a monthly post at this point. Here are some recent developments....
-I had a "ohmygod $hit is getting REAL" moment this week and it hasn't really gone away. I'm a natural procrastinator, but when it's go time, I'm unstoppable (something I notice in my own mom, too!). I think we've reached the go time phase.
-I had no idea how similar the third trimester would be to the first. I'm pretty much exhausted all of the time again- womp wompppp.
-Even though food is something that I typically get abnormally excited about, I've been feeling meh about meals recently. Nothing seems to strike my fancy- ugh! Except carbs. All the carbs (again, throwback to first trimester).
-According to my doctor, there are only a couple of weeks left where baby can squirm all over and somersault as she pleases before she starts to run out of room and prepares to join us. Apparently baby is really soaking up this time because she's been tossing and turning all over the place. I'm ready to sign her up for Ninja Warrior!
-I'd be lying if I said I wasn't starting to get nervous about labor. I've been planking whenever I can to hopefully keep those ab muscles strong. Good thing there's an amazing gift in the form of a baby girl at the end of the labor tunnel!
-CP and I have been talking a lot about what we want our routines to look like with the baby. We know that all of this might go right out the window, but it's been really valuable for us to share how we feel about certain things and what we want to try to establish early on. One of things we've discussed is sleeping arrangements, and this post and advice from Joy is super helpful and has been bookmarked!
-Even though we won't need daycare until August/September, we've been on the hunt for the best fit for a few months now and wow, has it been a process. From the centers that would cost more than our mortgage to the in-homes where we knew the second we walked in that it wasn't for us, I feel like we've seen it all at this point. I don't want to jinx us, but I think we've found a great fit for us this week and I'm really hopeful that it all pans out. Honestly, my friend Maggie and I have half-joked that we should just start our own daycare business and save ourselves the emotional and financial trauma of finding somewhere to go!
-Along that vein of thought- for other moms or moms to be out there, I highly recommend joining a local email listserv in your area if one exists. I'm on the Old Town Moms one, which happens to be crazy active, and I've found some really great references as well as baby items on there. It's also great to see a (mostly) supportive community of women helping each other out when it comes to advice on specific baby related situations.
And so, eights months in and two to go!!!
Eeek! How in the heck did you get to 32 weeks, already? Wishing I could have been there for most of those weeks, and I am getting so, so excited to meet the little one (obviously). xoxo
