Are you sick of my travel posts yet? I hope not! One day at home from Cape Cod was enough to throw in some essential loads of laundry, love on Sloan, and pack to head out again. This time I was on the road to Pennsylvania for three days to dogsit for my aunt and uncle, and from there it was off to Cincinnati to see the Rooneys!
I should actually rephrase dogsitting - it was zoositting! Marylea and Gary are animal lovers and have two border collies and five (!) cats! They live in the most beautiful and serene house, so I had no problem kicking back and relaxing inbetween long walks with the dogs and daily trips to Wegmans. I honestly don't really even remember what I did for the three days, but it was glorious, and I'm so glad that Marylea and Gary got to enjoy a wonderful trip to London.
Friday morning I was up bright and early and was on my way to Cincinnati. In case you were wondering, rural Ohio is one big farm. After about eight hours on the road (I'm convinced that road trips seem shorter when you're the one driving!), I made it to Mere's and we had a positively fun and much needed weekend together. The highlight was not only the company, but the delicious food, too! We ate some divine neapolitan pizza, amaaaazingly dense Belgian waffles, Creamy Whip milkshakes, and the list goes on and on. Meredith is also quite the photographer and had the idea to set up in front of a fun mural downtown with her tripod and take some photos! We had such a great time and received many looks and smiles from those passing by. You only live once, right!? I wish that I could have stayed for weeks, but alas, our weekend came to an end. You know that phrase "distance makes the heart grow fonder"? I try to keep that in the back of my mind since Mere and I only get to see each other a few times a year now....even though we talk on the phone a few times a week :) This may have been the last time that I visited the Rooneys in Cincinnati before they move, and I'm excited to follow along in their upcoming adventures! Thank you for a wonderful visit Mere, Thomas, Buster, and Buddy!
CP and I are heading out on our last vacation of the summer today to Asheville, North Carolina! We've heard wonderful things about the town and are excited to spend a few quiet days exploring together before the chaos of the school year begins.
Great minds think alike! Posted some photos from your trip today, too!!!
