An Incredible Comeback

There are some stories that when you hear them, they just touch you in a way that others may not. Austin Hatch's story is definitely one of them. Austin is on a full-ride at Michigan to play basketball, which is quite the feat in and of itself. The road to playing basketball at Michigan - Austin's lifelong dream - is nothing short of incredible.

In 2003, Austin and his father were the survivors of a plane crash that claimed the lives of his mother and two siblings. Eight years later, he survived a second plane crash, but his father and stepmother did not. The second plane crash left Austin in a coma and once he emerged from the coma eight weeks later, he had to re-learn how to walk and speak. Not only did Austin relearn the basics of everyday life that so many of us take for granted, but gosh darn it he worked his tush off every single day and earned that full ride to play basketball at Michigan. If you're a college basketball fan, you know that playing for Michigan is quite the accomplishment.

Austin referred to himself as an "uncommon man" in the interview that I watched with him. Austin is undoubtedly uncommon, but there's a lot that we can learn from his courage and unwavering determination.

Here is  more on Austin's story. Austin, you'll have fans all over the world saying "Go Blue!".
