Cape Cod

Early early Monday morning, CP, Lauren and I hit the road to Cape Cod. This was my third summer vacation up there with the Pikes, and it's always a fun and entertaining week. Coming from a family where most vacations included three of us, it's quite different for it to be a "small" group with ten of us there! Don't worry...it grew to over twenty by the end of the week.

Somehow we hit hardly any traffic on the way up there, although Waze (fondly pronounced Way-Z by yours truly) may be to thank on that one. I was getting such a kick out of CP and Lauren, who by the second half of the trip were not only heeding the warnings from others, but were also adding in their own warnings, such as potholes, police officers, and abandoned cars. It's quite the app.

Anyhow, we made it up there in record time and found ourselves quickly relaxed as we hit the beach, lazed around the house, and ate our weight in delicious food. CP's aunt Nancy happens to not only make delcious food, but also makes mean mixed drinks, so we were especially grateful that she was there! The men of the house happily spent lots of time in Trout Lounge (aka the garage), while the ladies were happy as a clam to sit in the sun without going in the water...hello, 56 degree ocean water! Oh, and there were lots of seals, which mean SHARKS.

Here are some snapshots from our week up at the Cape.

On the way there, we made a pit stop for the infamous MaryLou's coffee! It lived up to it's stellar reputation.

Aaaand I also grabbed some Wicked Good kettle corn at Cape Cod Brewery (coffee stop for me, beer stop for CP!). It was deeeeelicious.
The view of the ocean from the Pike's house. It's about a mile walk to Nauset Beach. Of course, it's downhill on the way there, so it feels like it's about three miles long on the way home.

Is the "WHOA" sign a real thing in New England?

CP and I went to Skaket Beach early one morning for low tide. You can walk for over a mile out on the sand and explore all of the little creatures out there. We were highly entertained by a group of littles who were trying to find crabs....every time they found one, you would have thought they struck gold!

The best fish tacos of my life at Nauset Farms, a delightful little gourmet grocery store and deli. I promise there's fish under there somewhere...
CP's face definitely sums up the first part of our tandem biking experience, hahaha. All in all, though, it was a blast and I'm even considering joining the dark side and getting a bike.

Just some late night ankle henna with ballpoint pens. A lot of Pikes happen to be very artistically talented! Makes me jealous.

Cape Cod - the place where you can indulge and then indulge some more and not care! Until next time....
