London 2012

I don't know about you all, but I am PUMPED for the Olympics this summer! I can't wait to have my eyes glued on NBC at all hours of the night in order to catch some of the thrilling events.  The number of hours, the gallons of sweat, and the unmeasurable mental dedication that these athletes pour into their respective sports is beyond admirable.

I think what most people don't realize is that many of these athletes are barely able to afford their trips over to the Olympics. There seems to be a misconception that ALL of the athletes have major sponsors that send them over there with planes full of gear and what not, but that is hardly the case for many of the athletes.  Some of the girls that rowed at UVA, as well as some high school rowing teammates from McLean are headed to the Olympics this year, which is absolutely incredible (but not surprising given their dedication to the sport).

Giuseppe Lanzone, who was a couple of years ahead of me in high school is headed to his second Olympics in the Men's 8+. Not only is he an incredible athlete, but he's also picked up some modeling gigs along the way as well. For example, during the 2008 Olympics in Beijing he was a model for the Polo gear. No big deal. I can't find a reliable source/image, so just Google him and you'll quickly see why Polo flocked to him.

I just bought this tank top and will surely be sporting it proudly over the next three months. USA USA USA!
