What's in a Name?

Some of my girls decorated my homework board (above).  I laugh each time I turn around and see it.  Evidently, we're the future Pikes and Micoccis. My kids constantly tell me how strange it's going to be when I make the switch from Micocci to Pike, and I agree.  Even though no one can pronounce my last name unless they know me personally,  I'm attached to it. I think I'm especially attached to it because I recently realized that since my dad is the only male among his siblings and I am an only child, I am the and LAST Micocci in our immediate family. Yes, I know there are many many other Micoccis over in Italy, but I'm the last twig on our family tree over here!  I'll gladly take CP's last name and I feel honored to become a part of their family, but maybe I'll (not so) secretly keep some Micocci nameplates in my classroom, too.

Please note that CP is wearing shoes with heels in our portrait. Apparently, I am also much taller than he is and my hair....welll, let's just say my girls could be paying a bit more attention in art class.
