His+Hers Survey Questions on Baby Life

I thought that it would be fun to throw together some questions for both CP and I to answer about the first few weeks of being parents! Here they are....

Funniest moment of being a parent so far:
Maria: The first time Avery pooped all over her changing pad
CP: Thinking Sloan was Avery in our bed in the middle of the night and cradling her as I tried to hand her off to Maria to feed

Scariest moment:
Maria: The first time driving alone with Avery in the car
CP: The first night at home

Most challenging aspect of being a parent:
Maria: Getting out the door by myself with Avery! I'm still learning to add at least a half hour of prep to any outing that involves getting both of us out of the house.
CP: Finding time to sleep

Thing I can't live without:
Maria: Coffee. Forever and always.
CP: Swaddles- I can't imagine getting her to sleep without them

Thing I'm most excited for:
Maria: Smiles from the little one!! It will be some validation that we're doing okay as parents :)
CP:  When Avery is aware of what she's learning and doing

Thing I'll miss most from this stage:
Maria: When all it takes is a little cuddling for Avery to calm down if she's fussy (even though this seems like a blessing and a curse at times!)
CP: How cuddly she is

Thing I will miss the least:
Maria: Feeling like all we do most days is feed/eat
CP: Waking up so frequently

What's surprised me the most about being a parent:
Maria: That I don't mind changing diapers as much as I thought I would! This is a good thing given how frequently it happens.
CP: How natural it feels

Biggest piece of advice:
Maria: When all you want to do is cry, find a way to laugh. My good friend Sarah has a baby boy a week older than Avery, so we text nearly every day with baby life frustrations that would normally drive me crazy, but we find humor in the situations together somehow.
CP: Take it easy. Enjoy the experiences and understand that things you can't control are going to happen and you can't get worked up about the small stuff.
