Virtual Coffee Date

Most times when a friend and I remark that we haven't seen one another in awhile and want to change that, I quickly offer up a coffee date. One of my favorite things to do with friends that are co-workers is grab coffee before school - it's such a pleasant and upbeat way to start the day! Given that coffee dates are happening less frequently these days though (cmonnn summer!), I thought it would be fun to have a virtual coffee date with all of you! In other words, bear with me as I share random tidbits from life and readings these days....

This concept does not surprise me at all. I know I would be much, much more stingy if I were forced to carry around cash rather than a piece of plastic.

Tupelo Honey is opening in Arlington! This was probably our favorite meal when we visited Asheville, NC. Meredith loves it too, so maybe it will encourage monthly visits from her?! (wink, wink Mere)

This article  is worth a re-post. Sometimes I wish people could live the life of a teacher for a day or a week to see what it's like (for instance, your thirty minute lunch is actually ten minutes between dropping off the kids, checking your mailbox, running a copy, and picking the kids back up). 

Our neighbor made us the most amazing lasagna last week and CP and I could not get enough of it. The secret to the flavor? Slow roasting the tomatoes for the sauce! The entire flavor was far less acidic and way more tasty. Here's a similar recipe. Definitely going to be using this technique from now on! 

Have you heard of the Bouqs? I've seen it floating around in a few places and I'm tempted to try it out!

I'm itching to start Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn. I read Dark Places last year and man is it a book that sticks with you! As the title implies, the book is dark and morbid, but in the way that sucks you in. At one point I'd heard that they were making Dark Places into a film - I'd be interested to see how they pull it off!

Tiger Babies? I die.  

I fell in love with Hasbeens last summer when my mom and I were in Sweden and I'm still kicking myself to this day for not springing on a pair. My mom got some, but she's just enough of a bigger size that I can't pull them off. Maybe when that money tree starts growing in our backyard, I'll finally get my hands on a pair! 

Interesting statistics on millennials.

What makes a sale a sale?  Loft, JCrew and Gap come to mind on this one. People naturally hop over with "flash sales' marketed all the time now, but when the items are steeply overpriced to begin with, is it worth it?
