Admittedly, I'm not a movie person. I infrequently make it through a movie at home, let alone actually going to the movie theater. Blame it on snow cabin fever, then, when I made it through a whole movie with CP this week - and loved it! I'd seen previews for The Grand Budapest Hotel before it came out and while it seemed quirky and visually appealing, I still had no clue what it was actually about. I went in with very low expectations when we started watching it (and had a pillow close by for when I was ready to nod off).
Lo and behold, though, there was a legitimate plot line to follow - and it was an interesting one! CP and I also kept playing the "Wait, where is (s)he from?!" game because there were so many familiar faces in the movie, as well as some very well known ones like Jude Law (swooooon). I think the fact that there weren't really any lulls in the action kept me glued to it, too.
So! If you're looking for a quirky yet entertaining film, I highly recommend The Grand Budapest Hotel. Bonus: it's available on HBO on demand for those of you who have HBO!
I'll have to add it to our (very short) list! It's hard to find movies worth sitting through these days of great television. :)
