Let's Dish

Last weekend, I joined two co-workers (hi Catherine and Chelsea!) at Let's Dish, which I'd been itching to try for some time. CP and I had done Blue Apron for a few months last year and really enjoyed it. The meals were yummy and pushed us out of our normal culinary zone. However, we're both of the mindset that time is money when it comes to meals in our house and we were still spending nearly an hour making the meals each night so we ended up stopping our subscription. Let's Dish is a little different though - you go to their site and build all of the meals there. They have a wide variety of meals that you sign up for beforehand and once you get there, they have stations with the required ingredients and instructions for how to build the meals. The lady in charge on the morning we went was a little intense, but I will say that it's a well-oiled machine there!

Everything is laid out for you, including the different sized measuring cups and the ziplocs or foil containers to put the meals in. Some of the meals Catherine and I split are creamy pesto shrimp pasta, chipotle enchiladas, chicken parm, and farro with mushrooms and asparagus. I was surprised at how many healthy and vegetarian meal options they had available, as well as options to make meals gluten-free (I realize most of the meals I mentioned aren't really that healthy, but it's winter and we all need comfort food when it's freezing cold outside, right?!).

In terms of pricing, here's a chart that breaks it down:

In-Store Session
Choose a 4, 8, or 12 dish session. Each dish has six servings. (Sound like too much food? You can split most dishes in half.)

Cost Per Session*Per DishPer Serving
1 Dishes$29$29.00$4.83
4 Dishes$114$28.50$4.75
5 Dishes$141$28.20$4.70
6 Dishes$168$28.00$4.67
7 Dishes$195$27.86$4.64
8 Dishes$210$26.25$4.38
9 Dishes$237$26.33$4.39
10 Dishes$264$26.40$4.40
11 Dishes$291$26.45$4.41
12 Dishes$300$25.00$4.17
13 Dishes$327$25.15$4.19

Obviously it's cheaper if you build more meals, which last up to two months when they're frozen. The best option for me was to split the entrees with Catherine (at no added cost) since we're both small families and don't need six servings of each meal.  Regardless, the price points are pretty reasonable in my opinion and pulling a delicious meal out of the freezer and prepping it is way more appealing to me than spending an hour chopping and cleaning. So far we've had the pumpkin ravioli and chipotle enchiladas and both were delicious.  Let's Dish also has the option to have the meals built for you so you just pick them up (at a bit of a higher price point), or they also have a lot of premade meals that you can simply stop by and pay for.

Unfortunately there are only a few locations in the area, but if you're near one, I would definitely check it out if you're feeling a cooking rut!

  1. Thanks for sharing the enchiladas with me, and now I can personally attest to the deliciousness. I didn't know that you all split some of the meals... great idea!
