A Different View

This past weekend, CP and his good friend Dustin raced in the Air Force Classic. I consider myself pretty athletic, but not when it comes to biking. It's a victory if I make it through a spinning class, so hopping on a road bike isn't an activity that's at the top of my list. I still think this stems from the time I flipped over the handle bars and wiped out on a rental bike in Central Park.....

Nonetheless, CP is an avid biker now and loves it.  Between the two of us, we spend hours biking, running, lifting, etc. over the course of the week, and while it means we might have less time together, we both benefit from the endorphins. It's also fun to head over to Hains point and knock out some laps together.

The different view that I experienced this weekend was as a spectator of the road race.  I've watched plenty of running races, and while they are incredibly motivating and energizing, the bike race took it to another level.  It was difficult to pick out CP and Dustin as they were going by (it didn't help that about 75% of the racers were also in blue jerseys), but I felt a small victory every time I was able to catch them and cheer them on.  Maybe it was the speed at which they were zooming by, or the skill that they exhibited tightly weaving in and out of one another, but it was neat. That being said, my fears of the dangers surrounding the sport were confirmed as plenty of bikers wiped out and a female race official was hit by a biker not once, but twice (thankfully she walked away with only minor injuries, but it was terrifying to watch).

At the risk of sound cheesy, it makes me really happy that both of us enjoy staying fit through our respective sports.  I couldn't be more proud of CP for all of the time, sweat, and scrapes that he's sacrificed on the road. Despite his best efforts, I don't think he'll will be able to get me on a bike, but that might actually work to our advantage since we both tend to get a bit competitive when it comes to athletics....

Looking for a new jam to get those legs pumping? This is pretty tame for Linkin Park, but I love it.
