I don't think I was home for more than two hours each day this weekend, but it was all in good fun. Saturday morning I was up bright and early for a 6am run with my mom. She's been absolutely killing it recently and I couldn't be more proud of her for committing herself to being fit and healthy. Our goal is the Nike half marathon that's coming to DC this spring, and we're well on our way there. Later that morning I headed over with my dad to see my Aunt Lisa and her husband Jim, who were at the Textile Symposium downtown. They just returned from a trip to Mongolia, where they were visiting with other artists who work with felt.
Me with Lisa. She made her top and the work behind us!
After we caught up with Lisa and Jim and saw some of their incredible pieces of clothing and art, my dad and I made a pit stop over at Union Market near H St. I'd heard about the market and it sounded similar to Reading Terminal in Philly (which I loooove), so we stopped over. The market was neat, although small. I'm hoping that they get more vendors in there so that there are more options. It also happened to be the Food Truck Fest on Saturday, so the parking lot across from the market was packed with food trucks! Double score.
My dad tried the Korean BBQ taco truck, which was pretty good. Had I been hungrier, I would have pounced on a grilled cheese from the Big Cheese truck. They're sooooo yummy. After the outing with my dad, we had a quick turnaround to get ready for the Joan Hisaoka gala, which we needed to be at by 4pm.
My dad is still learning the art of the IPhone camera :)

The gala had a silent and live auction and raised a ton of money that will undoubtedly benefit Life With Cancer in many ways. We were glad to volunteer with such a wonderful cause! Sunday my mom and I were up early again for another workout. Afterwards, I headed over to watch some of my former students play soccer. These two are adorable and I miss seeing them every day!! I can't wait to follow their middle school and high school adventures over the next few years.
After the game, I tutored for a bit, ran home to watch some of the Redskins game with CP's friends, and then we ventured over to my parents house to sell their piano to a couple. Let's just say that even with five strong males, getting the piano out of their basement was quite the ordeal (THANK YOU KEITH AND SWAN!!!). I think we all breathed a huge sigh of relief when it was all over! We ended the night with a delicious meal made by my dad, and then it was home to grade papers. WHEW! I think I need a weekend from my weekend :)
