Back to Life, Back to Reality

Wellll, Monday is here. After a pretty uneventful ride home (minus the drag racing that happened in NY, which scared the living daylights out of me), we arrived back to the lovely humidity here in DC. Fortunately, it stormed like crazy last night and the temps are way down. My parents welcomed us home with a feast last night, and while my dad stole the show with his chicken fried chicken and Italian green beans, I added a salad to the mix which was pretty darn delicious. It's essentially a replica of a salad we had while in Cape Cod.

The salad is arugula, grilled pineapple, goat cheese, and spiced pecans. I couldn't remember what the dressing was like when we had it in CC, so I ended up throwing Briana's poppyseed on this one and it was perfecto. I don't even go for arugula normally, but for some reason the peppery bite made the salad come full circle. Such an easy and refreshing summer dish!

On a completely different side note, I need to give a shout to my mom, who has let me join her at her personal training sessions a couple of times now. The chica is WORKIN' it with Reggie and it shows in her results. We were doing dead lifts, planks, and all sorts of fun and pain-inducing activities yesterday morning. I'm trying to convince her to do the Nike Women's half marathon that's coming to DC this Spring with me:)

I start my babysitting job on Wednesday, which I'm looking forward to. The kiddos are precious and so fun. Until then, there are loads upon loads of laundry and housing paperwork calling my name!
