Can We Be Friends, Phillip?

I've never really been a huge fan of American Idol, but this season I would catch myself mindlessly tuning in some nights.  I always get more into these types of shows towards the end, when the talent has been weeded through.  For those of you who didn't watch, the final two were Jessica and Phillip, who happen to be complete opposites in regard to their musical genres.  Phillip is a dead ringer for Dave Matthews (he even gets the high shoulder shrug and uncontrollable leg twitch going like Dave), although the show purposely steered clear of that comparison.  Anyways, Phillip won.  I wasn't even that excited about the results. Then, he sang his song again. The song that American Idol people had written for him. And I had a moment. Phil had a moment, too, seeing how he didn't make it a third of the way through the song before he got caught up in the emotion and stopped singing.  Here are some of the lyrics from his song, Home....

Hold on to me as we go
As we roll down this unfamiliar road
And although this wave is stringing us along
Just know you’re not alone
Cause I'm gonna make this place your home

Settle down, it’ll all be clear
Don’t pay no mind to the demons, they fill you with fear
Trouble, it might drag you down
You get lost, you can always be found
Just know you’re not alone
Cause I'm gonna make this place your home

I didn't expect the song to catch me off guard, but it sure as heck did. Look for the good in each day. It's THERE.

On a lighter note, three day weekend is nearing, woooo! We don't have any major plans, other than our family friends graciously hosting an engagement brunch for us.  I'm hoping to catch some rays. Oh, and get in a long run because next weekend is going to kick my bum (and glutes, and quads, and you get it.....). More on that later, though!
