Additional Randomness

Apparently this weekend was one that revolved around comfort food, especially on Sunday. Saturday involved leftover (incredible) beef stroganoff for breakfast - thanks mom! - and then a trip to Astor for dinner with a friend. If you're in the Arlington area, I highly recommend Astor...especially the pizza!

Sunday began with a 6am body clock alarm going off and from there it was two hours of frustrated tossing and turning, which was then followed up with thousands of licks because a certain four-legged friend was ready for breakfast. Ugh. Sidenote: I bought this sleep mask a few weeks ago and even though my body clock is on school time now in the mornings, it works WONDERS at night. I'm obsessed with it. To make up for the lack of sleeping in on Sunday, I set off to Trader Joe's and purchased food for an indulgent brunch. For me, that included an open faced egg sandwich with cheddar cheese and bacon on top. CP opted for a pumpkin bagel with half cream cheese and half peanut butter, both sprinkled with bacon crumbs. Yum. Another sidenote: TJ's is killing it with pumpkin products this year. They have their normal ones, but lots of new ones too, including pumpkin cinnamon rolls, frozen pumpkin kringle pastry delivered from Wisconsin, gluten-free pumpkin pancake mix, and many other pumpkalicious treats.

My mom and I went to the last Nats regular season home game in the afternoon and witnessed a little piece of Nat's history. I noshed on Hard Times Cafe chicken wings at the game and promised myself that this Friday will be a very healthy day until I get to the ballpark for the playoff game (!!) and indulge in the Hard Times nachos. Pass the stretchy pants now, please.

Since the egg sandwich and wings weren't bad enough, we capped off the night with brioche grilled cheese sammies stuffed with white cheddar and apples, which were complimented by roasted tomato soup. At first the tomato soup seemed like it was missing something, but then we realized that it didn't contain the loads of salt that most tomato soups do, which was a welcome omission.

So, there you have it. A weekend of super LEAN and GREEN food - ha! I promise to eat like a rabbit this week.....
