Saturday, CP and I had big plans for packing. And that didn't happen. We DID, however, show our apartment to a couple of guys who are moving up here and they're going to take it. Yippeeee!! The original couple who was going to take over our lease backed out, so we were in a bit of a panic mode. Since I was babysitting most nights last week, CP and I hadn't spent much time together over the course of the week so we had a date night on Saturday. We went over to Eventide in Clarendon and ate at the bar/bistro. They have a different, more casual menu downstairs but you can still order off of the upstairs menu as well. I really like it there and we still need to make it over for drinks on the rooftop (it was closed last night since it was spitting rain).
Sunday we grabbed a late breakfast at Northside Social, our favorite coffee/breakfast spot. They have incredible scones, muffins, homemade pop tarts, etc., as well as yummy breakfast sammies. CP always gets the smoked salmon and poached egg on an english muffin and I typically lean toward something sweet&savory. After breakfast, I spent the afternoon with the Gollob family and it was so much fun to see them and catch up. I've taught both of the Gollob twins, Jill and Sam, at Chesterbrook and they are everything that you would ever want in a student. When you meet their parents, you realize why they're so stinking incredible. Luckily, little Jay (who's not so little anymore!) is a rising 4th grader, so I'll see him in a couple of years. I can't wait to keep up with Jill and Sam and hear about all of the incredible things that they're doing in middle school.
CP and I stopped by World Market to purchase some patio furniture tonight, which we're pumped about. It was on super sale, and even though we had a scare when the box wouldn't fit in the car, CP got smart and we just took it out of the box to squeeze it in. I always forget how great World Market is. I'm sure we'll be there for many more decorative items as we move into the new place.
It was a somewhat lazy, mostly fun weekend. I feel weird when I have hours to laze around and do nothing, but it's exactly what I needed after a long week. I can't believe August is almost here!!!
Iced latte and apricot pistachio scone from NS. I may have also brought a strawberry zucchini pine nut muffin home....
PS. Remember by post about meeting Carla? Well, somehow Carla discovered my blog post and commented on it!!! You best bet I wore a silly grin the rest of the day. What's even better is that she commented that they do in fact put together cookie tins for special occasions. !!!!! Obbbbviously I'll be dropping an email in her inbox tomorrow.
