I'd be fat for you, Carla

If you're my Facebook friend, chances are you might have already seen the picture in which I am a hot, sweaty mess posing with Carla Hall from Top Chef. Carla lives in DC and gained tremendous popularity with her "Hootie Hoo" call and infectious personality on the show. She finished fifth in the All Stars, but won fan favorite. She's a laugh out loud riot.

I was running through Whole Foods to grab some sour cream for a cake while trying to meet the two hour parking validation limit when I spotted Carla. She was with a couple friends and was checking out her cookie display in the store. Side note: she has a petite cookie line called Alchemy which WF is now carrying. Normally I cringe when people obnoxiously run up to celebrities at restaurants or other somewhat formal affairs, but given that this was a much more laid back atmosphere I couldn't help but strike up a conversation. Errrr the "conversation" began with me getting out, "It's Carla!!!!". She graciously talked with me for a few minutes about her cookies and latest developments in her business. I asked her if she was still doing catering, but sadly, she's not. I would have loved to have had her cookies at our wedding! We also chatted about Mikey (Mike Isabella) and his restaurants. I just so happen to have a lunch date at Graffiato today with my friend Jess, yippee!!

Carla was just as friendly in person as she is on air and it was incredibly kind of her to stop and chat rather than roll her eyes as yet another fan approached her. She certainly made my night (week...month...?). If you're interested in her scrumptious cookies, here's her link

I picked up the cheddar pecan savory bites and they are YUMMMM yum yummy. The goat cheese with cranberry ones sound right up my alley, too. Looks like I'll be keeping Carla in business!

HOOTIE HOO!

Hi Maria. Thanks for this great blog piece, and very kind words!

While my company no longer caters, we could work with you to create a special gift tin (favor) for your wedding. If you're interested, please shoot an email to Verlette Simon (verlette@alchemybycarlahall.com) She'd be happy to talk to you about what we could do.

    All the best!
    Carla
